Baked Mac and Cheese

Cheesy mac and cheese with a cheese crusted top. Perfect for thanksgiving!

Ingredients

Here are the basic ingredients that you will need to make Baked Mac and Cheese:
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
3 tablespoon flour
1 pound macaroni
7 tablespoon butter
3 cups half and half
8 oz smoked cheddar cheese
8 oz colby jack cheese
16 oz sharp cheddar cheese

Method

To make Baked Mac and Cheese, simply…
1 Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F
2 Bring a pot of salt water to a boil and begin cooking your macaroni. Cook this for one minute less than the package suggests. Once cooked, drain and add back to the pot
3 While your macaroni cooks, shred your cheese. It’s important to shred your own cheese for best taste and creaminess
4 Add 2 tbsp butter to your macaroni and season to taste. Mix well
5 In a separate pan over medium high heat begin making your roux by melting 5 tbsp butter
6 Once the butter is melted add 3 tbsp flour and stir until well combined
7 Whisk in your half and half and let cook for a few minutes until warm
8 Slowly add in your shredded cheese until melted in the cheese sauce. Reserve 2 cups of cheese to top your mac and cheese with
9 Season your cheese sauce to taste
10 Add cheese sauce to your macaroni and stir until well combined while slowly adding in 1/2 cup of cheese
11 Stir until well combined then add to a baking dish. Top with remaining shredded cheese
12 Bake at 400 for 25 minutes and broil for an additional 2-3 minutes
