Slow Cooker Pork Butt

Ingredients

Here are the basic ingredients that you will need to make Slow Cooker Pork Butt:
pork shoulder roast (Boston butt)
butter
Seasoning or rub of your choice

Method

To make Slow Cooker Pork Butt, simply…
1 Pat the pork dry. If it comes wrapped with a cotton twine netting, I like to leave it on mine until after it’s cooked. Rub the pork thoroughly with the seasoning you’ve chosen. Be generous!
2 Place into the slow cooker and put the stick of butter on top and set to high for 4-5 hours, or low for 7-8 hours. You’re looking for an internal temp of 200 degrees. You can add a little liquid to the bottom of the pot, but it’s not necessary. This cut of meat should have enough fat to keep it moist, especially with the butter.
3 Once it’s done, remove to a plate or bowl and let it rest for about 15 minutes and then remove the netting and shred. Add back to the juices and stir. You can serve as-is, or refrigerate to use in recipes later in the week.

There is a big difference between the food I’d like to cook and the food that I’ll actually cook. I enjoy being in the kitchen, but I don’t have a lot of time to spend there. And let’s get real, I’m not going to multiple stores to grocery shop. I need to keep things quick and easy. This is a collection of recipes that are in rotation on the dinner menu at my house, with a few that I developed just for this book. I hope that no matter your skill level or how busy you are, you can turn to any page and say, “I can do that!”. Cooking should be fun, and it doesn’t have to involve hard-to-come-by ingredients. If you cook with love in your heart for the people you care about, it doesn’t matter if it’s from scratch or a can. Y’all come fix you a plate!
