Everyday Cooking with Sharon Kaye
Everyday Cooking with Sharon Kaye is a celebration of real‑life cooking—the kind that happens between work, school, ballgames, and the everyday moments that make a family. With 50 comforting, practical recipes, this cookbook brings together the meals that have carried my family through busy seasons, celebrations, and the days when gathering around the table felt like the most important thing we could do.
Rooted in the traditions of the Midwestern women who shaped me—my mother, my grandmothers, and generations of faithful, resourceful cooks—this book reflects the heart of home: warmth, practicality, and the belief that a simple meal can steady a weary heart. Inside, you’ll find family favorites like Auntie Dee’s Lazy Lasagna, a hands‑off, busy‑day staple; Granny Anderson’s Yeast Rolls, a treasured recipe passed down through generations; and Everybody’s Favorite Egg Rolls, a fun, unexpected crowd‑pleaser that always brings people together.
Alongside these beloved dishes, you’ll find crockpot meals that make dinner effortless, flexible recipes that turn leftovers into something new, and homemade pantry staples that save time and money. These pages are filled with the flavors that make a house feel like home, the shortcuts that save your sanity, and the kind of everyday cooking that fits real schedules and real budgets.
My hope is that your kitchen becomes a place of memories and ministry, where feeding the people you love becomes one of life’s sweetest gifts.
About this creator
sharonkayeaikman
From a young age, I dreamed of two things: becoming a mother and a nurse. I always envisioned my home as a place filled with children, love, laughter, and plenty of food—a true haven of warmth and connection. Over the years, I’ve come to appreciate the profound role that food plays in our families, homes, and culture. It’s not just sustenance; it’s a way of sharing love, creating memories, and bringing people together.
My journey as a cook has been shaped by a blend of life experiences—growing up in an era when food became more universal through media and global influences vs local cooking. Through traveling, experimenting, and learning through trial and error. I’ve taken inspiration from my grandmother’s and mother’s cooking styles, adapting them into my own, and finding joy in every dish I prepare.
As a career hospice nurse, I’ve been honored to support families during some of life’s most difficult times. I’ve witnessed firsthand how friends and neighbors bring comfort through the universal gift of food, a powerful expression of care and compassion. I believe I’ve been blessed with the gift of hospitality, and my home always has an open door and a table with room for one more.
I find joy in being active in my community through my church and our local school. However, the greatest blessings of my life are the moments spent with my husband, Chuck, and our nine children. Together, we savor life through Christ, music, travel, sports, and the quiet, simple pleasures of being together in our home.
