Maria Watkins is the founder of Living Planet Friendly, an online community of more than one million people across several platforms, with a mission to help people live more sustainably. She lives in Western New York with her husband, Harrison, their cats, Waffles and Jack, and their dog, Pepper. After beginning her sustainability journey more than a decade ago, Maria has become deeply passionate about protecting the planet, climate justice, and embracing a slower way of living. Through her content, she educates others on the climate crisis, encourages conscious consuming choices, and inspires a slow, low-waste lifestyle. Maria is a strong advocate for intentional living and reconnecting with traditional skills, often sharing her love of gardening, canning, sourdough baking, and making food from scratch. She believes that simple daily actions—whether in the kitchen, the garden, or the home—add up to meaningful change. When she’s not creating content, you can usually find her thrifting for secondhand treasures, experimenting with from-scratch recipes, or enjoying the outdoors with her partner.
