Daniel Galmiche, a charming French chef, is known for his intensity, passion, and ambition. Celebrated as a "champion of classic cooking with a contemporary twist," he focuses on French and Mediterranean cuisine using local, sustainable ingredients. A regular guest on BBC 1's Saturday Kitchen and ITV's Saturday Morning, Daniel has written for various publications and authored two successful cookbooks: The French Brasserie Cookbook and Revolutionary French Cooking. Born in Lure, France, Daniel's culinary journey began early in his family's organic farm. After a three-year apprenticeship with Chef Yves Lalloz, he honed his skills in top restaurants across Europe, including Le Gavroche in London and Michelin-starred establishments in France. In 1990, he won Master Chef of the Year and earned his first Michelin star at Knockinaam Lodge. He also maintained stars at Harvey’s and L’Ortolan and was awarded the Rising Chef Trophy by Relais et Chateau in 2011. Daniel has cooked globally, participated in food festivals, and served as a consultant chef in London, achieving two AA rosettes within months. His upcoming book, French Countryside Cooking, will feature new recipes inspired by the pandemic. In addition to cooking, Daniel enjoys sports, particularly badminton, and walks in nature.
